And All of London Littered With Remembered Kisses by aqvarelles And All of London Littered With Remembered Kisses by aqvarelles
ôSeptember has come,
It is hers whose vitality leaps in the autumn,
Whose nature prefers
Trees without leaves and a fire in the fire-place;
So I give her this month and the next
Though the whole of my year should be hers who has rendered already
So many of its days intolerable or perplexed
But so many more so happy;
Who has left a scent on my life and left my walls
Dancing over and over with her shadow,
Whose hair is twined in all my waterfalls
And all of London lilttered with remembered kisses.ö
-Autumn Journal by Louis MacNiece

I was having Ginny Weasley and the Curse of the Firstborn Feels so I drew this so I could wallow in my grief.

Finding this painting (and the adjacent poem) has been one of those key serendipitous cyber moments that makes you love the world. everything i was craving in word & image i just happened to stumble into hear. i was craving fall and the cold wind whipping my hair + thinking of flaming red hair + of ginny weasley a lot, actually, as i just reread the 6th book and i was wishing i had some vision of her to go on besides what's in my head because what's in the movies and much else is crap and doesn't represent her strength or how i picture her to be. so i go strolling through deviantart and what should i find but this? i can't stop staring at this one. you've done a gorgeous job here, i gotta say. so captivating. i couldn't believe it: ginny weasley, exactly as i imagined her (though perhaps a few years older here). i've since been through dozens upon dozens upon dozens of ginny drawings/paintings and yours remains the most enchanting + perfect likeness i've ever seen (at least to the ginny in my mind's eye). Thank you so much! you are very gifted :).

oh my god thank you so much! i haven't replied earlier because i just wanted to keep this message in my inbox for a little longer <3
This poem, and this writer, is so profoundly dear to me, and whenever i read it i always have this perfect image of fall in my chocolate and spiced tea, and blankets and leaves ugh i just love autumn!!! I'm so glad you found the ginny in your head!

your most welcome :). would you like to read the song i wrote for it? i mean, that is, whose inspiration & imagery greatly encouraged it? truth be told, i've had the idea to write this one swirling about my head the last couple of weeks and then finding this (as i described earlier) was really the catalyst for putting it on paper. So thanks, again :).

p.s. i looked up a couple other poemms by mcniece but found nothing comparable to this. did you have any other favourites of his you could refer me to?

p.s.s. re. your signature: but you tamed his cousin the fox. does that make you half-crazy? Or just an artist? ;)

The whole poem from which the september has come excerpt is from is great, and here is another part of it which i love even more personally:

“And I shall remember how your lies could hurt
Because they were so honest
And even your lies were able to assert
Integrity of purpose.
And it is on the strength of knowing you
I reckon generous feeling more important
than the mere deliberating what to do
when neither the pros nor cons affect the pulses.
And though I have suffered from your special strength
who never flatter for points nor fake responses
I should be proud if I could evolve at length
An equal thrust and pattern.”

— Louis MacNeice, from Autumn Journal

Also, "Entirely" is very good. I just love MacNeice on principle, so I find a lot of beauty and poignancy in his work. There are some more here on one of my blogs: [link]

P.s. it makes me both ;)
and I would love to read the song!
